Habdaphaï

Habdaphaï (Fort de France, 1960), born Jean Crépin Alerte. Lives and works in Marin, Martinique. A former dancer, he has devoted himself to painting since the early 1980s. Alternately curator, artistic director and event creator, the artist has created and managed three galleries (Art Neuf in Fort de France, the Cho'rum and Odis7 in Marin) and three international artistic events in Martinique (the Festival des Sens editions 2003 to 2008 in Marin, the Contemporary Art Market in Marin editions 2000 to 2009 and the Pool Art Fair Martinique editions 2011 and 2012, in Fort de France). Painter, performer, sculptor, photographer and videographer, the artist graduated in Performance Art from the University of Besançon and holds a DNSEP-ART from the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Besançon.
