Manuel Espinoza
Venezuelan painter born in 1937, he studied at the Arturo Michelena School, under the direction of Braulio Salazar (1953-1954), between 1954 and 1958 he studied pure art and graphic arts at the Cristóbal Rojas School, in 1958 he entered the Academy of Fine Arts Arts in Rome and, the following year, he moved to Paris, where he studied at the Bersier engraving workshop, at the Superior School of Fine Arts. At the Louvre School he attended Pierre Francastel's engraving workshop and art history course and In 1960 he studied at the Hochschule für Bildenden Kunste in Berlin, attended the Stabenau lithography workshop and Hans Trier's painting workshop.
He was a professor at the Cristóbal Rojas School (1963), at the Experimental Art Center (ULA, 1965-1966), at the Neumann Institute (1970-1973), at the School of Social Communication (UCV, 1971-1976), Cegra (1975-1982) and the School of Arts (UCV, 1981-1983). Founder and first director of IUESAPAR (1990), in 1964 he was appointed director of the Círculo Pez Dorado in Caracas, together with Ángel Luque and Jacobo Borges. He was founder and director of the GAN (1976-1984), Member of the board of directors of the Rómulo Gallegos Foundation (1979), participates in the creation of AVAP, Maczul and advises MACMMA and between 1999 and 2003 he exercises the positions of vice minister of culture and president of Conac.
